A, B, C, or D?
multiple choice in the real world or how what you say reveals something about what you are
Joe Biden just visited Ukraine for unknown reasons. As Americans struggle economically, crime continues to rise, the border remains fluid, and multiple accidents plague our land, the president decided on Presidents Day to go somewhere else. With the people of East Palestine, Ohio placed in life-altering turmoil, Biden has other interests.
The really amazing thing, though not surprising, is how the media cover for Joe Biden. Though he fumbles and mumbles, though everything he touches seems to fall apart, though he and his family have benefited for years as a result of their corrupt dealings, though the world around him is in disarray, they treat him as virtuous, upstanding, excellent, and effective. This obviously disoriented man, this failure of a leader, is portrayed as a hero.
While in Ukraine, for instance, Biden walked around with Zelensky and others, virtue signaling along the way. In his travels, the president also gave a “speech” in which he incoherently attempted to read his teleprompter, mouthing words he likely didn't clearly understand. He looked feeble, weak, glassy-eyed, confused at times (which is normal for him), and anything but a strong Commander in Chief. He even tripped again, later in Poland, as he boarded Air Force One—a fitting picture of his entire tenure.
How, then, looking at this same person, Joe Biden, do they depict him? Incredibly, major networks are comparing him to Washington, Madison, Roosevelt, Lincoln, and Kennedy, among others. So he is on par with these historically significant people? Come on . . . you can’t believe these things, can you? Well, some claim exactly that of Joe Biden. How then do we explain such incongruous opinions?
MULTIPLE CHOICE?
It seems to me, for what it's worth, that there are only a small number of potential answers. When the dominant views are inappropriate, when they don’t make sense of what is obvious to everyone, what are we to make of it? Well, we can present it in the form of questions. When you observe Joe Biden, there are only four questions that will determine your analysis of this undeniably confused and fragile man. It has to be either A, B, C, or D.
A. ARE YOU DELUDED?
There are some people, or at least they claim, who truly believe that Joe Biden is some sort of great historical figure, a heroic game-changing leader. But reality tells us something quite different.
If you truly believe that an obese person is skinny, that a weakling is a power-lifter, that a dwarf can play center for an NBA basketball team, that a circle can be square, that up is down and down is up, that deadly poison should be regularly ingested—perhaps, then, you will be open to the idea that Joe Biden is a brilliant, all-wise, wonder-worker.
Keep in mind, as well, that the things about which we speak are not superficial issues. We are all flawed, and we are all guilty of many blunders; these are the things about which we cannot be overly critical. Here, though, we are discussing the clear, regular, undeniable reality that this cognitively impaired man has wreaked havoc on America.
Do you truly want to state for the record that such an embarrassingly incompetent and consistently un-American individual is a savior and that his words and actions are impressive? If so, you are aligning yourself with unreasonableness, craziness, and insanity. If this is your position, we have to inquire: Are you deluded?
B. ARE YOU A LIAR?
There are some, however, whatever their outward talking points and demeanor, who actually know how much of a failure this man has been, but they go along with it anyway. He's not Trump, after all, and he is the one who allows the true movers and shakers, the deep state radicals, to push their agenda.
If you fit this categorization, if you believe the end (the great reset) justifies the means (pretending that Biden is in any way presidential), you are participating in a deception. Therefore, we have to ask: Are you a liar?
C. ARE YOU BOTH DELUDED AND A LIAR?
Of course, it is also feasible that many are a mixture of both—parroting known untruths while also buying into certain aspects of the lies. Are you both deluded and a liar?
D. ARE YOU AWAKE AND COHERENT?
The only legitimate category is to be awake. Awake is the opposite of woke, for wokeness entails a predetermined and radical political and societal agenda while being awake simply involves an alertness to reality and desire to understand it. The awakened are obviously not perfect people by any stretch of the imagination, and they don't always agree with everything in their respective groups or parties.
But they are willing to listen to all kinds of views, even objectionable ones, are unwilling to abandon rationality, and are committed to the notion of independent thought. We are all susceptible to bias and blindness, of course, and so no right minded individual can act like he or she has “arrived.” But we at least seek to honestly comprehend the truth, and to pursue that truth honestly.
HOPE?
If we do live in a world that is populated by the deluded, liars, and truth seekers, how are we to proceed? In response, there is usually no simple solution but rather a pathway. This involves a commitment to humility, building convictions, listening to others, and a God-centeredness. Humility teaches us that there is much we do not know. Convictions are those goals that are inherent in a meaningful universe. Listening is an expression of humility and tends to lead us to convictions. And God-centeredness reminds us that we are all his creatures, and he is our source of clarity, wisdom, strength, and meaning.
In this wacky world, it is difficult not to become cynical, and we are always susceptible to selfishness. But it is also possible to remain faithful and for people, even deluded and deceptive people, to change. It is ours, then, to unpretentiously yet boldly keep our eyes on the truth. This requires being modest enough not to pretend we know everything (for we do not!) and courageous enough to point out when people are deranged or hoodwinked or just plain deceptive. In this multiple choice world, we must choose, by the grace of God, to be awake.
