READY, WILLING (AND ABLE)
simple thoughts on what we can do to fight against Covid madness
Life is filled with challenges and with decisions that relate to those challenges.
Today, for instance, we live in a truly insane world. We've been told to cover our faces with masks that do little to protect us from a microscopic pathogen. Schools and businesses have overreacted to a sometimes serious but usually manageable disease. Authorities have made demands in the name of "science" that are anything but scientific and have hyperventilated over vaccines that are of limited effectiveness and of which the long term safety is unknown.
When anyone notices these inconsistencies or discusses a view that goes against the narrative, that person is typically ignored, attacked, misrepresented, or disallowed his or her opinion.
What's more, the new and radical directives have not been generated via open debate and legislation but by bureaucratic fiat. Unelected officials with immense power basically hijacked our country, demanding that we slavishly obey.
Of course, many have awakened to the reality of the damage already done and the dangers that might await. This, understandably, has produced righteous anger, frustration, and a myriad of emotions. The whole thing is maddening.
“Write a letter to the editor.” “Question local leaders about their agenda and what they are doing to oppose authoritarianism.” “Run for office yourself.”--these are among the suggestions, and they are all legitimate responses. But none exhausts the meaning of "being involved." Indeed, the truth is there is no formula, no easily defined strategy for determining what we should do to counter tyranny.
In fact, with all of the Covid craziness and the resulting desire to do something about it, your task, whatever the particulars, is actually quite basic.
Simply be yourself, and do what you can to counter the lunacy, remaining informed, and praying always for wisdom and direction. The rest is outside of your purview, but that is a good thing, for that means it is within God's control. Just be ready and willing to be his hands and feet. If you do this, you'll find that you are well equipped (enabled) to fulfill the third part of the popular expression; you will be ready, willing, and able.
